Mark and Sue Vening

Venings

Mark and Sue, members at FBC since 1991, joined Youth With a Mission (YWAM) in 1995 to pursue a fledgling call into missions.  More than twenty fives years and four children later, and with the constant support, encouragement and prayers of FBC, they are still going strong!

Mark and Sue originally completed a two year training phase in Central Asia and Mozambique.  Since then they have been firmly based in the UK, initially at one of YWAM's larger sites in Hertfordshire and then, in 2002, in Wrexham in North Wales where they still reside.  After learning the language(!), making new friends and joining in with what God was already doing, they have been delighted to see YWAM Cymru/Wales grow and develop over the succeeding years, including the pioneering of several new local and national ministries.  They have seen the development of a permanent training facility 'Gair y Gwynt' which now allows the team to run permanent training and ministry all year round.

Two new teams are planned for Swansea and Cardiff and it is hoped that they will be able to pioneer well during the next couple of years despite the challenging and unprecedented times we now live in. Their establishment will mark an important milestone in the ongoing development of the national side of YWAM Cymru/Wales.

In correspondence with FBC Mark and Sue have commented:
"Working alongside and with the support of the local church is a fundamental part of what YWAM and the Vening family are engaged with - and one that FBC can justifiably feel proud of.  Simply stated, we would not be where we are now without nearly 30 years of membership at FBC - we are very grateful".

You can find out more about the Vening family and their work on the YWAM Cymru/Wales website, or through their own Facebook page.

The Church is involved in many activities, for all ages, some on a Sunday and many in the week. All these activities are explained in more detail under the "What's On" pages.
If you are wondering what would happen if you visited us on a Sunday, here's some information that we hope you will find helpful:

On the first and third Sunday of the month we also hold a half an hour, early morning communion service from 9.00 am - 9.30 am.

When worshipping with us, the decision to wear a face mask or socially distance is the personal choice of the individual.

Sunday church serviceWhat should I expect when I visit the church?

You will receive a very warm welcome particularly from our Welcome Team who will be able to answer your questions and direct you to where you need to go or provide you with more information to take away.

At our main service there will be some singing (which you can join in with or not!), prayer, a Bible reading, and a talk based on a Bible passage or theme from the Bible. The words of the songs, Bible reading and visual aids during the talk are all projected onto the wall for easy viewing. A weekly produced notice sheet is also available giving details of the various events taking place during the week and news.

ChildrenWhat happens for the children at church?

During our Sunday Morning Services (except in August), we run 'children's church' alongside the morning service to which all young people (ages 0-14) are welcome.  Children stay with their parents for the start of the service and then someone will announce when the children go to their groups.  You will need to go with your children to register them if it is your first time with us. Occasionally some Sundays, we'll have an "All age service" where adults and children stay together to worship, learn and usually laugh a lot! A separate room with toys and crafts for the littluns will be available if the parents/guardians wish to do so. We just ask the parent/guardian to stay with their children throughout the "All age service".

Our Sunday morning service is LIVE streamed over YouTube and parents/guardians of children under 18 are responsible for ensuring their children are not on camera, if they do not wish them to be.

For more information about what happens in the children's work please visit the relevant age groups for you under What's On.
