How Big?
Well how long is a piece of string?! We have around 150 who have taken the step of becoming formal members of the church. In addition to this we have a number of adults who regularly attend our services and other activities, but have not become formal members. Then there are people who come to activities at the church, but do not worship with us and then there are children and young people, some who come only to the activities for their age and some who worship with us.
So at a “usual” morning service we would have between 80 – 100 adults and at our “usual” evening service we would have between 50 – 70 adults. Some people normally attend both services and others just one. At Christmas and Easter we have around 200 in the congregation which is a full house!
What are the people like?
We range from 0 to 80 something and are a pretty mixed bunch of folk. Some have lived in the area their whole life, some have been brought here through work. We also have people from different countries of the world. Whatever your circumstances there is probably someone in a similar situation.
What are the services like?
Our
Sunday Services are at 10:30am and 6:00pm each week. Normally in the morning we have groups meeting on the church premises for children
under 5 years of age and groups for
5 – 11 and
11-14 meeting at a nearby local school. During our services we sing many new songs and some old ones to express our worship. We listen to the Bible and try to understand what it means to us today through an explanatory message. We have a time of prayer and at the end of every service there is an opportunity for people to receive personal prayer. In the evening services we normally have a time for people to share with everyone what God is doing in their life.
One Sunday of the month, and during some of the major school holidays, we all come together as the church family and other than a crèche for the under 3's there are no other groups. These services may have children and young people taking part and might include drama, quizzes and other activities.
We normally celebrate the Lord’s Supper (communion) twice a month, once in the morning service and once in the evening service.
What else do we do?
Check out the rest of the website to find out about other activities, but with so many people at our services on Sundays we recommend that everyone who joins us regularly should join a
small group.
Other things which haven’t yet got a mention on the site yet include Friday night football and occasional ladies evenings. We also have occasional events that are included on the web site as they happen; for example, our annual summer barbeque.
We also take services at the local Frimley Park Hospital and at local residential homes from time to time.
Money
The church is financed entirely by gifts from those who wish to give. All offerings made during our services go to our “Remember the poor fund” which goes to help the poor in the UK and overseas. This, plus a larger amount from general church income, means that we are able to support a number of organisations including the following:
Some of the specific areas we contribute to are:
- Provision of clean water
- Agriculture and development
- Eye care
- Health (HIV/Aids)
- Education
- "Transport"
- Persecuted Church
- Broadcasting
- Bible translation
- Christian literature
