Worship at FBC

What are our services like?

Every Sunday morning at 10.30 we gather for about an hour and a half to sing Christians songs (both modern and traditional), pray, read Scripture and listen to a talk.  Most Sundays we run 'children's church' from crèche age up to school year 9 with the children usually joining the start of the service and then going off to their own groups. Before the pandemic we used to have an all-age service on the first Sunday of the month where adults and children stay together to worship, learn and usually laugh a lot and we hope to return to this pattern as soon as is practically possible.

Our morning service is videoed and live streamed on YouTube, and as such can be viewed by anyone who has access to the internet.  Unless you sit at the back of the room, it is possible that you may be briefly caught on camera and it is assumed that by attending you are giving your permission to be included in this way. We take great care, however, to ensure that children do not appear on our live stream unless their parents and/or legal guardians have given their permission.

You can join the livestream of our service on our YouTube channel, and catch up on previous services, by clicking the FBC LIVE button below

Do we have COVID restrictions in place?

Since Sunday 19 September 2021, we have removed all restrictions from any gathering within the building, making it now the personal choice of every individual as to whether or not they wear masks or socially distance. To support that choice we still provide sanitiser at the door and keep the rooms well ventilated. We also continue to provide 2 different types of seating. If you are happy to sit anywhere with anyone then you can just turn up without booking a seat but it you would prefer to use socially distanced seating then you need to book your seat. Details on how to do that can be be found by clicking here.

We ask everyone who has tested positive for COVID, has COVID symptoms or COVID-like symptons to not attend our meetings. In addition, we recommend that any of our Church family who is deeply unsure about coming back to worship with us in the immediate future should remain at home for the time being and worship with us online. If you choose this option then please inform us of your decision so that we can continue to support you pastorally.

What about refreshments?

We plan to return to providing refreshments after the morning service from November 2021.

Do we ask for money?

Everything we provide on a Sunday is free but we do take up a financial offering in the morning service that is used to help support local, national and international needs. This is a freewill offering, so you are not under any compulsion to give towards it.

Do we have any other services on the Sunday?

Before the first lockdown we used to hold a short communion service at 9.30am and a more contemporary interactive evening service at 6pm. We are currently discussing how and when these two meetings will recommence and will update this page when they return.

Welcome 4

New to Church?

Welcome!  Whether you've just moved to the area, or have lived here all your life, we hope our website helps you to find out everything you want to know about Frimley Baptist Church.

The Church is involved in many activities, for all ages, some on a Sunday and many in the week. All these activities are explained in more detail under the "What's On" pages.

If you are wondering what would happen if you visited us on a Sunday, here's some information that we hope you will find helpful:

Where and when does the church meet?

Most Sundays we meet at 9:00 am, 10:30 am and 6:00 pm.  The style and content of these three services are quite distinct, but you will be very welcome at any service.  The service pattern is explained on the Sunday Services page and the details of the services this week can be seen on the Home page.

We meet at:
Frimley Baptist Church, Balmoral Drive, Frimley GU16 9AR.
You can see a map on our contact us page

What should I expect when I visit the church?

You will receive a very warm welcome particularly from our Welcome Team who will be able to answer your questions and direct you to where you need to go or provide you with more information to take away.

Depending on which service you visit, the content and style will be slightly different, as explained above.  At all services there will be some singing (which you can join in or not!).  At the 10:30 am and 6:00 pm services the minister, or one of the members of the Church will give a talk based on a Bible passage or theme from the Bible. The speakers often use audio visual aids as part of their talk.  The 9:00 am is a communion service with a short reflection from the service leader.

Usually tea, coffee and biscuits are served after the 10:30 am service and before the 6:00 pm service, where there is plenty of time to meet new people and ask more questions.

What happens for the children at church?

Other than the first Sunday of the month and through the month of August, we run children's groups in part of the morning service (10.30 am) to which all young people (ages 0-14) are welcome.   Children stay with their parents at the start of the service as we worship (sing songs) together for the first part of the morning.  Someone will announce when the children go to their programme.  You will need to go with your children to register them if it is your first time with us.

For more information about what happens in the children's work please visit the relevant age groups for you under What's On.

Is there a dress code?

No!  Please just be yourself and come dressed in your 'normal' clothes.

Will I have to join in?

Not at all!  You are free simply to observe or participate as much as feels comfortable for you.

I have more questions, how can I get in touch and ask them?

Please feel free to contact us.  If you want to know who works in the Church Office, check out our Leadership and Staff page.
